It all began in 1988 when a team is formed to accompany Michel Fugain. It includes among other Cokelaere Lawrence (who just left Century), Arnaud Dunoyer de Segonzac (additional keyboard Century), Philippe Leroux and Marco Papazian (both then accompanists Lavilliers) and Pascal Joseph (under the name of Pascal Joubert). As the current flows smoothly, the idea came to them to form a group to play the music they love. Few repetitions, and Big Blue (and initially named in tribute to the film of the same name) is in the spring of 1989 their first concerts at Distrito, a cozy Parisian club to be very fashionable.
