“Burnin'” fue el primer álbum en la historia que conseguía arrasar, y escandilizar, a las tiendas de música desde el “Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band” de The Beatles. El disco de The Beatles generó importantes rumores en todo el mundo debido a que parecía que apoyaba el uso de drogas como el LSD, en especial en el legendario tema "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds".

1973 - CATCH A FIRE

“Catch A FIRE” fué el debut en larga duración de Bob Marley and The Wailers, y un fenómeno de masas desde su edición en 1972, aunque a nivel internacional se lanzaría en 1973.

“Catch A Fire” se convirtió en el debut internacional de la música reggae, y sigue siendo uno de los mejores discos de reggae jamás grabados en el mundo y en la historia. Un álbum esencial en cualquier colección de música.

1974 - NATTY DREAD

Después de Bunny Wailer y Peter Tosh dejaran la formación para seguir con sus carreras en solitario, la banda fue renombrada como Bob Marley and The Wailers. Para llenar el vacío armónico, se ficha a las I-Threes, formadas por Rita, la mujer de Bob, Marcia Griffith y Judy Mowatt. Cuando fue editado “Natty Dread” era el álbum mejor producido de The Wailers, convirtiéndose automáticamente en un imprescindible para los seguidores del reggae.

Grabado en julio de 1975 en el Lyceum Ballroom de Londres, “Live!” captura el período de la carrera de Bob en el que su música comenzaba a llegar a una audiencia más amplia. En una época en el que el status de uun grupo se determinaba según sus directos, no era ninguna tontería que Bob Marley and The Wailers fueran capaces de expresar la energía de sus espectáculos en sobre un álbum.

1977 - EXODUS

Después del intento fallido de asesinato en diciembre de 1976, Bob y Neville Garrick se fueron de Jamaica a las Bahamas, y de ahí a Inglaterra.

Bob se encontraba en un momento muy creativo, como si los disparos hubiesen reforzado su capacidad compositiva, además Bob trabajaba estrechamente con Tyrone Downie quien se estaba convirtiendo poco a poco en el arreglista del grupo.

A finales de febrero Bob había dejado todo preparedo y el grupo se dirige a Basing Street para grabar los nuevos temas. Las canciones que salieron de estas sesiones estaban muy inspiradas en los acontecimientos ocurridos y en el intento de asesinato. Bob decretó que el nuevo álbum debía llamarse “Exodus”, a pesar de que esta fuera la única canción que el no había escrito.

Posiblemente el álbum en vivo más potente en la historia del reggae, se grabó con The Wailers en diferentes conciertos alrededor del mundo en una gira que duró cerca de tres años, demostrando que la música de Marley es totalmente atemporal y en donde mejor suena es en directo.

1980 - UPRISING

“Uprising” se edita en mayo de 1980. El disco se convirtió en un éxito inmediato, que llevó a la banda a realizar una gira por toda Europa en los que serían sus shows más grandilocuentes.

Este disco se convertiría en el último que editaría Bob en vida. La canción que cierra el disco “Redemption Song” posiblemente sea el mejor tema que se ha escrito para cerrar una carrera y una vida.
