Sinopsis:
Alvin, Simon y Theodore, las tres ardillas parlanchinas y estrellas de la canción vuelven a la carga. Junto con su amigo Dave (Jason Lee), las ardillas disfrutan de su éxito: fiestas, paparazzi. Pero, sus vidas están a punto de dar un giro total. Dave les acaba de anunciar que se ha echado una novia, Samantha (Kimberly Williams-Paisley), una mujer muy atractiva que tiene un hijo adolescente llamado Miles, que no les resulta muy amigable a las tres ardillas. Todo esto va a suponer un nuevo capitulo en la vida de Dave, que tiene la intención de irse a Miami con su nueva novia, y claro, también en la de las tres hermanas ardillas. ¿Qué hacer entonces? ¿Volver al bosque? ¿Ser parientes de un nuevo hermanastro al que temen? Las ardillas harán todo lo posible para mantenerse unidas, y no perder a Dave, así que su intención es impedir que su amigo se declare a Samantha. Tienen tres días para conseguirlo. Comenzará así una aventura trepidante llena de acción, malentendidos y locos personajes como el agente federal Benson (Tony Hale) que se cruza en su camino.
